Getting started
FinScope does the step before your accounting software: getting clean, checked transactions out of bank statements and receipts. You upload the document, FinScope extracts every transaction, checks it against the balances the bank printed and builds a ledger you can filter and export to Excel.
No. FinScope handles the step before your books. The Excel export goes into whatever you or your accountant already use. It does not do general ledgers, double-entry journals, payroll or tax filing.
Sign in, choose Personal or Business, drop in a statement and choose a report type. Your transactions appear in the Library and the Dashboard updates with every upload.
See the full walkthrough →Yes. An AI reader turns the document into rows. It does not decide what is correct: every statement is then checked against its printed opening and closing balances, and anything that does not add up is flagged instead of presented as confirmed. AI cannot change an amount, date or direction once a row is saved.
Where AI is used →We measure basic visit information (pages viewed, approximate device type, time on page, country and referring site) with our own cookieless tool. It does not store your IP address or use a persistent identifier, and it stays on our own systems. For signed-in users we record an internal account id with visits to understand usage, never your name or email. Product analytics (PostHog, EU region) runs only if you accept it or sign in without having chosen. Choose Essential only in Cookie settings and nothing is sent to PostHog. Analytics never read your documents, transactions or anything you type.
How we handle data →Yes, you can upload a client's statements the way they sent them. During the beta each account has a Personal and a Business ledger and no team workspaces yet, so practices with several clients should tell us how they work and we will set up the beta around it.
Set up your practice →Uploading and extraction
Bank statement PDFs, Excel or CSV exports, and photos or scans of receipts and statements (PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF). PDFs and images can be up to 25 MB each; Excel and CSV files can be up to 10 MB and 2,000 rows each. FinScope turns all of them into one clean list of transactions.
Upload the PDF and choose a 1:1 report. FinScope extracts and checks every row, then gives you an Excel workbook with separate Transactions, Income and Expenses sheets. You can also import first and build a custom report later.
Yes. Upload the scan or photo as an image or PDF. FinScope reads the text and builds the transaction list. Anything it is unsure about is flagged so you can take a quick look.
Yes. A multi-page PDF is processed as one upload, and the transactions across every page are combined into a single list.
FinScope is not tied to a list of banks. It reads the layout of the document in front of it and then checks the numbers, so most statements work. If a statement does not reconcile, it is flagged for review instead of guessed at. Tell us which bank gave you trouble and we will look at it.
Report a bank layout →Yes, for most common layouts. Very messy or low-quality scans may take longer or be flagged for review.
Not yet. Remove the password or re-export the statement from your bank, then upload the unprotected file.
Each transaction keeps the currency printed on the statement, and the Library lets you filter by currency. Combined multi-currency reporting is planned, not available yet.
Checks and accuracy
FinScope reads the opening and closing balances printed on the statement and checks that the extracted transactions add up to them. A statement that does not reconcile is flagged and kept out of the confirmed totals until you have looked at it.
What FinScope checks →It depends on how clean the file is. That is why FinScope checks every statement against its own printed balances and flags what it cannot confirm. Look over flagged rows before relying on the totals, and compare a first report with your original statement.
Rows that do not reconcile with the statement, possible duplicates, unusually large amounts, low-confidence reads, rows outside the statement period and invalid amounts. Each flag shows a plain label in the Library, and you can clear it once you have checked the row.
If you upload overlapping statements, repeated transactions are flagged as a possible duplicate. Click the flag to see the rows it may duplicate. If you upload the same statement twice, FinScope tells you and lets you skip it, import it anyway or replace the earlier copy. Your original records are never deleted.
No. You can add notes and categories, but amounts, dates and the bank's original descriptions stay exactly as printed. If FinScope cannot confirm something, it does not present it as confirmed.
The row is marked as reviewed. The amount is never touched. Clearing a flag is your decision that the row is correct as printed.
Reports and exports
Three sheets: Transactions (every row, cleaned up), Income and Expenses. A 1:1 report mirrors a single statement. A custom report is built from the transactions you select in the Library. Reports are snapshots, so a new download never overwrites an old one.
Total received, total outflow, net cash flow and ending balance for any period you pick, with the trends and top categories behind them. Every figure drills down to the transactions it is made from.
The Vault keeps your source documents and generated reports together, with each report linked to the statements it came from. Before you delete a file, FinScope shows which records depend on it.
FinScope gives you Income and Expenses sheets and your net cash flow. That is cash-based clarity from your statements, not a full accrual profit and loss with adjustments.
Upload your statements, download the Excel report and send the Transactions sheet. Your accountant can import it into whatever accounting software they use.
Beta and pricing
FinScope is free during the beta. After the beta there will be two paid plans, Starter and Pro, priced in US dollars. The planned prices are $35 and $99 a month, and you can see them on the pricing page.
See beta pricing →You choose whether to continue on a paid plan. Nothing changes automatically.
No. There is no payment method on file during the beta. If you want to keep using FinScope after it ends, you will choose a plan yourself.
That is the plan: your Library, reports and Vault are meant to stay as they are when paid plans start. During the beta, features can change and data may be reset with notice, as set out in the Terms.
Read the beta terms →So you can judge whether FinScope is worth it to you before the beta ends. Planned prices can still change, and we will announce any change in advance.
There is no cap on beta places. Anyone can join the free beta and start uploading.
Troubleshooting
Try a cleaner export from your bank instead of a photo or screenshot, and check anything flagged for review. If it still fails, open a support case from inside the app: it carries the upload and step with it, and a person replies.
Open a support case from inside the app, from the upload that needs help. It tells us which document and step you were on, so you do not have to explain it again. For anything else, the public contact form works without an account.
Contact us →Rows FinScope could not read are skipped and the document is marked for review instead of passing silently. Check the upload's status and flags, then compare the row count with your statement.
Yes. PDFs and images can be up to 25 MB each, and Excel or CSV files up to 10 MB and 2,000 rows each. You can upload up to 30 documents a day during the beta. If one statement is larger than that, split it by month or period. Every upload adds to the same ledger, so you can still create one combined report from your Library.
Open the transaction in the Library and edit its category, description or notes. You can also select several transactions and recategorize them together. The amount and date never change.
Your files are stored privately and can only be reached through FinScope itself, never through a public link. During the beta, documents are read by an AI service on a free tier whose provider may use them to improve its models, so upload only what you are comfortable testing with. The Privacy page explains this, retention, deletion and the outside services we use.
